Best Time to Visit Kenya for your Wildlife Safari

The best time to visit Kenya depends on your reasons for travelling and what activities you are interested in. The Kenyan coastline consits of a tropical humidity, the northern reaches of Kenya a dry arid heat and then the cooler more pleasant temperatures of the plateau and highlands.

Wildlife Safaris tend to be at altitudes between 800 - 1,500m and therefore temperatures are not too hot and can have cool nights. The best times to visit the various national parks are between January and March and June through until October. During these months the parks dry out which lessens the vegetation, causing better wildlife sightings, and also means that the wildlife is closer to the permanent water sources and therefore it is easier to predict where the wildlife will be at various times of the day.

This does not mean that the low season is not a good time to travel. It is often less busy and you still get good weather often with short downpours in the afternoon which clears up and provides lovely evenings and wildlife sightings are still good.
