Lake Nakuru Vacations and Safaris
Lake Nakuru National Park contains Lake Nakuru which is set amidst a picturesque setting with woodlands and open plains, the Lake being the main feature. A short three hour drive from Nairobi, Nakuru offers a relaxed safari experience with the main feature being its huge numbers of flamingoes. Up to a million of these birds can be seen at any one time which turns the water and shoreline literally pink. The flamingoes feed off the algae that thrives in the warm waters of the lake.
Lake Nakuru National Park does have more to offer with 400 other species of birds, and also rhinos, giraffes, lions and leopards as well as some rather large pythons! A sacntuary has also recently been formed for black rhinos.
