Meru National Park Vacations and Safaris
Meru National Park is primarily a savannah park located in the north eastern lowlands below the Nyambeni hills. The park is criss-crossed by numbers of streams and also three large rivers.
Meru National Park was made famous by Elsa lion when she was returned to freedom by Joy Adamson in the book Born Free. Meru is one of the most diverse parks in Kenya with rocky outcrops, grassy hills, forests, swamps and savannah and all bordering Mt Kenya. With beautiful scenery, Meru is also a place where you can see the Big Five.
The Wildlife of Meru National Park and the Best Time To Visit:
Meru National Park actually receives a fairly high annul rainfall making the ground vegetation and grasses much longer, this in turn also makes the game viewing slightly more tricky. This does not mean however that it should be ignored as part of your Kenyan vacation as it does still provide some good wildlife sightings including cheetahs and leopards. The best time of year to travel is also during the drier months of June through to October.
