Samburu Safaris and Vacations
Samburu National Reserve, located to the north of Kenya, is much less busy than other national parks and reserves which is a welcome change for most travellers. As more of an arid Reserve, at first glance it is not as attractive as other areas of Kenya; however with the Ewaso Nyiro River running through it this forms the life blood of wildlife safaris and game viewing. This riverine woodland provides welcome shelter to the predators of the park including leopards, lions and cheetahs which are all relatively easy to spot due to the less dense ground vegetation. Samburu also has healthy herds of elephants and over 360 species of birds.
Best Time to Visit Samburu National Reserve:
As with most wildlife destinations, the best time to visit Samburu is during the drier months of June through to October. At this time of year the vegetation is less dense, making for easier viewing, and the wildlife tends to stick closer to the permanent water sources for both the water and prey!
