Kenya Family Safaris and Vacations
Family safaris in Kenya are well catered for and generally come under the tailor-made safaris bracket. Travelling as a family can often be very expensive as it is down to one individual (or couple) to pay for everyone which is not always the most feasible option. Kenya however is often a favourite for families as it offers good value for money and a lot of the camps and lodges are specifically geared towards catering for families.
A safari for a child is a huge adventure and therefore planning it properly is essential in order that it is both relaxing, fun and also educational. For this reason small things like taking games (nintendos, books, puzzles, etc) for the middle of the day are essential; most activities are during the early morning hours and later afternoon and therefore it is important children are also occupied during the middle of the day.
Accommodation varies from park to park however there are a number of lodges or camps that have family rooms, or rooms that can be connected to form one unit. This is important to reassure both the parents and children throughout the safari. In certain destinations there are also private safari houses available; this is a fantastic experience as everyone can enjoy living together in an entirely different environment; this also sets parents minds at ease as to where their children are and what they are up to! One of the best destinations for private houses is Zambia.
